We’re back to our 10 Ways to Blog Your Truth lessons during the 31 Days series, and we’re half way through! I hope you’ve been learning something from these posts – I know it’s been great for me to blog each day. Today, let’s talk about failure – and opportunity.
I asked my husband recently about he felt about the Texans (our football team here in Houston). He didn’t get caught up in how bad they’re doing, instead, he saw the potential opportunity that lie within: we’ll likely draft first and have a chance at a good quarterback pick. It’s just one of the things I love about my husband.
For me, I used to be a glass half empty person, but I’m working on that. As an editor by trade, I always ‘see the missing tile’. It even annoys me sometimes, so I can imagine how annoying it is for others…
But now, now I sing a different tune – especially since losing my son. I kind of have to be positive or my grief will get the best of me.
So I challenge you today to change your viewpoint. Because where you see failure, I see opportunity.
Can you see potential failures – or crises’, or bad days, or bad feedback, or whatever it is that feels so bad, so much like a failure – as potential opportunities? Can you find the good hidden within the bad?
Essentially, can you make lemonade out of lemons?
I had a really hard time picking quotes for this lesson. So, I’m not going to choose. I’m going to stop talking and leave you with the wise words of a few great men.
When written in Chinese, the word ‘crisis’ is composed of two characters. One represents danger and the other represents opportunity. ~John F. Kennedy
Opportunity often comes disguised in the form of misfortune, or temporary defeat. ~Napoleon Hill
Inside of every problem lies an opportunity. ~Robert Kiyosaki
And if our times are difficult and perplexing, so are they challenging and filled with opportunity. ~Robert Kennedy
Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit. ~Napoleon Hill
Do not be embarrassed by your failures, learn from them and start again. ~Richard Branson
Tomorrow, I’ll be talking about why failure is a good thing and how it can help you blog better. Don’t forget to share the series (use the link on the image below) using the hashtag #bloggingyourtruth.
